The Terracotta Army is an extraordinary collection of life-sized terracotta sculptures that were buried with China's first emperor, Qin Shi Huang, in 210–209 BCE to protect him in the afterlife. Discovered in 1974 near the city of Xi'an in Shaanxi Province, this archaeological marvel includes over 8,000 soldiers, along with horses, chariots, and other figures, all arranged in battle formation.
