Sanssouci Palace, located in Potsdam, Germany, was the summer residence of Frederick the Great, King of Prussia, and is one of the most notable examples of Rococo architecture in Europe. Built between 1745 and 1747, the palace reflects Frederick’s desire for a place “without concern” (the literal meaning of Sanssouci) where he could retreat from the pressures of court life, focus on his interests, and enjoy the beauty of nature. Often referred to as the "German Versailles," Sanssouci is surrounded by expansive gardens, vineyards, and decorative terraces, making it a UNESCO World Heritage site along with the rest of the Parks and Palaces of Potsdam and Berlin.
